I needed a sound of cows chewing. So i went driving around in the countryside and found some cows close to a road that were eating in a trough. I put my mic close to them while they munched away. Sometimes they licked the microphone i was so close!.

This sound was recorded while driving down the road on my way to school while it was raining. I was traveling between 0 and 60 miles per hour. So there is a variation in the intensity of the rain falling against my car. As-well you gain a slight acknowledgement to the acceleration of my engine.

An excerpt from some in-car driving recordings i made with the windows wound down. My starting point is geotagged. I first turn right out of trail ridge court in streamwood, il, then wait to turn left at the intersection of schaumburg road and south sutton road. I then head north on il route 59. The car is a 1996 chrysler lhs 3. 5l v6 (note the recognizable sound of the creaky chrysler transmission as i slow to a stop). My recording setup was two audio technica at851a boundary mics, mounted upside down on the interior roof and facing out of the driver and passenger windows (with appropriate wind protection), running through a mixer into a zoom h4.

There is a horse running by on the road at one point and some dogs in the background, but the morning doves stand out the most and sound really beautiful at points. I got into a small crawl space under a concrete road, which seemed to be an old sewage tunnel, and recorded the sound of a car driving overtop of me. It's a gentle rise and fall of a car engine. You can hear me let out my breath as the car drives away.

I believe i recorded these with a sound devices 702 and a neumann rsm 191 stereo shotgun. They are long car bys on a quiet road. Lots of distance to my left and right so you get some nice long singular car bys. Maybe one or two instances with a multi car pass. The roads were wet when this recording was done.

This sound effect was captured by me on video on my canon digital powershot a460 camera, i stood just above the motorway at charing cross glasgow scotland and captured this sound from the jam packed motorway, both sides were busy, i even caught the sound of a police car coming along the hard shoulder. I simply took the sound from my video. Please note, anybody is free to use this sound, you don't have to credit me, but it would be fun to hear how you use my sound if possible. :) here is the link to the type of licence i use. I recorded a pretty gnarly storm on 8/25 around 1:30 am. The cars are off the road but you still get that city reflection. I placed two rode nt5s in my living room windows and set them to record for about nine minutes. It wouldn't be great for an outdoor situation but it's a good "thunderstorm from an apartment in the city" recording. It's in 16 44. 1, stereo. Use it for whatever you want, no credit needed. -jp.

Stereo recording of about 5 lads skateboarding in a small square (custard factory, birmingham uk). Sound of wheels rumbling and nice meaty thwacks as the lads jump then land. They went around the square and some movement across the stereo image is audible. There is traffic noise from a nearby main road. Some comments and talking between the lads is audible but not clearly articulated. Recorded on a zoom h2 with the built in front microphones (90 degree nominal separation). Recorded as wav, loaded into audacity for removal of handling noise at start and end only.

Recorded on a canon d550 camera. I live near a water tower built into a hill and firework displays cause a strange echo as the shock wave passes through. Listen to the first burst of bangs and there is a faint sound of "gravel falling into water". I suppose the frequency of the explosion is reverberating in the air gap in the water tower. There is a second burst of fireworks which are far away. Traffic from the a3 road is audible.

The morning after christmas 2022 on hood canal. There was a king tide that came up over the stone wall. A king tide occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are in alignment and the combined gravitational pull causes water levels to rise dramatically. I took this recording right next to the pilings where the dock is connected. You can hear the water hitting the metal and wood as it knocks it around. The water eventually washed over the road.

This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. I hope you enjoy this sound. :) please note, anybody is free to use this sound, you don't have to credit me, but it would be fun to hear how you use my sound if possible. :) here is the link to the type of licence i use. I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called. I used my canon powershot a460 digital camera to video this, i simply took the sound from the video. I was lucky enough to get a good run on this with just a few poeple on board, so there wasn't any other sound apart from the train, the only time you here some movement of feet is when the doors open. Please note, anybody is free to use this sound, you don't have to credit me, but it would be fun to hear how you use my sound if possible. :) here is the link to the type of licence i use. 1:56 field recording of exterior daytime environmental windy day in an exposed lincolnshire countryside location, but with mics completely shielded inside a bus-shelter for a less in your face perspective. Mics are pointed upwards into the wooden box roof of the shelter, which has added a somewhat eerie and disconcerting lower mid rumble to the scene. Recorded with a balanced stereo pair of mics and edited to remove intrusions.

Recording of the tires of a flat bed trailer going over a gravel path. This was from a hayride where i was sitting in the back with a bunch of kids being pulled by the tractor. Recorder was just a couple of feet from the wheel so most of the kids noises and even the tractor engine get drowned out, but still somewhat audible in spots. There are two recordings, one taken from the side with the mic at the wheel and one with the mic under the trailer while recording. (this is the one with the recorder off to the side. ). The sound could also (maybe) be used to mimic a hailstorm. Recorded with a sony icd-px312.

Short field recordings made with my iphone in august 2013 while visiting family on one of the many small residential islands located in beaufort, south carolina (of forrest gump, the prince of tides, the big chill, and the great santini fame for any movie buffs out there). The loud buzzing is the ear-piercing mating call of the cicada insect, a sound that's hard to escape in the sultry summer months and semi-tropical environment of the south carolina low country. You can also hear tree frogs and i think maybe some birds too. Unfortunately there's also a little ambient whine of an air conditioner at times and me tip-toeing quietly around on the crunchy gravel dirt road. . . Because i didn't realize my iphone would do such a good job of picking up the sound of my footsteps. :). Feel free to make use of these recordings!if you do use them in some way in a project, i'd be curious to hear from you.

. . Inside an intercity express (ice) between stuttgart and mannheim, sitting in an almost empty (three passengers) second-class broad-spaced compartment at around 9 pm. After a shaky first minute an even part follows for around 90 seconds. Interrupted by some road holes the steady sound continues, now with the frequency of the engine sound rising until the beginning of the fourth minute. Here the "main part" begins, starting with several moments of acceleration, deceleracion and breaking. From minute 5:15 to 7:35 the train reaches it's peak velocity, with only few bumps. After a short deceleration the train inceases velocity again, reaching a second peak, this time noticeably bumpier. Once in a while you can hear some element of the fitments rattling nervously along the track, depending on the constitution of the railways and the overall situation. During the last two minutes the train keeps on decelerating slowly and continuously until the end. Recorded in stereo with a portable stereo recorder (zoom); enhanced in audacity using a parallel dynamic eq (tdr nova), a compressor (vos density mkiii) and a binaural spacializer (auburn panagement).

I guess it's what (nearly) every hongkongers would like to make it as ringtone sound for everyday life, right? #hehe#. Recorded near dolce & gabbana kowloon shop, at canton road, tsim sha tsui, hong kong, during protesting against d&g;'s "blocking esp. Hongkongers to take photos outside their shops" behaviour on 8th january, 2012. The "無綫新聞.事事但但" (tvb news, absentminded (news reporting)) is a slogan which to satirize tvb that self-filtering unwanted news for china government, or specificity, the communist party of china. Their (sometimes actually talking about yuen chi wai's, the head of the news dept. Of tvb, who interviewed with li pang after "8964" tiananmen square protests of 1989, with no following the professional conduct of journalism, and being abused as dog after the report was broadcasted) behaviour lets many hong kong network users calling them cctvb, which means they are more likely to be the hong kong mirror of cctv in china. A man even made a board wrote "無綫新聞.事事但但" and shown on camera when tvb news was doing a live report. This slogan are being called by protesters on that event as they don't like tvb reports the event like a entertainment news.
